Abstract
In general, the ballast pump system is for filling ballast tanks which are in the double bottom, while seawater is taken from the seachest through the ballast pump, and the main pipeline and branch pipes. Ballast system is a system to be able to position the ship in a balanced state, both in the state of the front and rear trims, as well as a sloping state. In the planning is to include water as ballast material, the ship's condition can return to its perfect position. In the system of maintenance and repair of ballast pumps performed, namely ballast pumps which include operating procedures, planning, maintenance and corrective actions in the event of a ballast pump interruption, with the instruction manual of the book. With the maintenance and repair of the ballast pump according to the procedure, it is expected to reduce the risk of damage to ballast pump components, such as seals, bearings, shafts. After the maintenance is done, the ballast pump works efficiently, and can avoid ongoing damage, thereby reducing the risk for the ship and the company.
