Abstract

In this global era, human needs are increasing, especially in terms of food. There are different types of food and are increasingly variant, one of which is food ingredients that require the process of freezing. In exports import to transport goods which need to be frozen requires special containers. In the trading market container that contained frozen cargo called reefer container. Reefer container is one type of container refrigeration unit with closed cooling system, reefer container equipped with refrigeration system to preserve or maintain temperature inside. To be able to operate in this transportation using diesel power supply or genset so the temperature inside reefer container can be maintained. The knowledge about cargo, engine maintenance and cargo treatment must be understood so that no damage or decreasing quality of the cargo. The purpose of the study is to know how the effort to prevent of the refrigerated container cargo on board MV. Sinar Sumba owned by PT. Samudera Indonesia. In this study the writer used observation and interview technique to obtain the data. The result of this study that the effort to prevent damage of the refrigerated container cargo on board MV. Sinar Sumba owned by PT. Samudera Indonesia was done as regulated. Keywords: Reefer Container, maintenance, MV. Sinar Sumba, PT.
