Abstract

We know that a ship consists of construction/shipbuilding framework containing all sorts of equipment and cargo. Ship is a means of sea transportation which one of them uses air compressor to start the engine first. Air compressor usually suck air from the atmosphere. In this case the compressor works as an amplifier (booster). In addition to compressing the air, the compressor can be used to move the gas from one place to another by providing an energy so as to produce pressure through compression that occurs in the compression chamber by the piston. In that case, air compressor are easier to maintain and operate, so air compressor need to get special attention in order to always be ready to use properly. One supporting the smooth operation of the vessel is the treatment of air compressor. In this respect, it is important that we know and understand the maintenance of air compressor to reduce the risk of damage at the time of operation in order to know the important role of overhoul, to know which parts to clean and measure and know the disturbances and how to fix them.
