Abstract

System Fresh Water Generator at Survey Ship Barakuda PT. Citra Bahari Shipyard Tegal Fresh water generator on board is one of the auxiliary machinery that can convert sea water into fresh water through a distillation process, namely, evaporation in the evaporator and embedding in the condenser. This aircraft has a very important role in the smooth operation of the ship, where the operation of the ship is inseparable from the need for fresh water. The purpose of this study is to find out the things that cause a decrease in the production of Fresh Water Generators. This research was carried out when the author carried out terrestrial practices on the BARAKUDA SHIP SURVEY ship from September 3, 2018 to December 28, 2018. In practice the authors found a problem about the low pressure of sea water from the ejector pump which caused a decrease in fresh water production and salt deposits in the tube evaporator aircraft Fresh Water Generator. The results obtained from this study are the cause of the decrease in production of Fresh Water Generators due to the clogging of the filter at the ejector pump suction which causes a decrease in pressure on the ejector pump so that it does not reach maximum production to meet the needs of fresh water on the ship. To overcome this problem the author checks and repairs parts of the Fresh Water Generator and makes a replacement if there is a damaged Fresh Water Generator.
