Abstract

Maintenance Exhaust Valve To Optimizing Work Of Main Engine In KM. Rajawali PT. Galangan Pelni Surya The exhaust gas valve is a type of valve that functions to open and close the exhaust gas door from the cylinder combustion chamber. The exhaust gas valve is in charge of holding the gas that is burning in the cylinder chamber, so that the fuel can burn completely and at the specified time the exhaust gas valve when opening and delivering the residual combustion gas exits through the exhaust line. The purpose of writing this paper is to find out the cause of high exhaust gas temperature, damage damage and how to treat the exhaust gas valve. So that problems and damage to the exhaust gas valve can be identified and can be followed up with appropriate action. Care is taken to prevent preventive damage and extend the life of the exhaust gas valve. High exhaust gas temperature is caused by combustion heat leakage in the exhaust gas valve system and maintananced cooling are carrued out to store the temperature of the exhaust gas temperature which rises to the normal point. The damage to the exhaust gas valve is caused by improper valve gap regulator, lack of valve cooling, heavy fuel use and material fatigue. Based on the data obtained, maintenance is needed on the exhaust gas valve by checking the condition of the valve, increasing the capacity of fresh water and increasing the heavy oil filtration process. When the ship sails it is necessary to periodically monitor the condition of the exhaust gas valve so that the vessel runs smoothly and prevent damage to the main engine of the vessel caused by the exhaust gas valve.
