Abstract
The cooling water system is a system that serves to maintain the engine so that the engine temperature is in ideal conditions. The cooling system is necessary and important to do. Based on the heat balance in the engine, the cooling function in the main engine becomes important. Because the heat that will be absorbed by the cooling system can reach 32%. From various problems in the cooling system. If the cooling system does not work as it should from some experience during the author on board. It was found that a malfunctioning part of the cooling system is not maintained which reduces the performance of the main engine, and causes heat to the main engine. So to facilitate the use of the cooling system, it is necessary to have periodic maintenance following the procedures from the main engine manual.
