Abstract
Generator is auxiliary engine which has function to change mechanical power to become electric power. So, function of generator is change mechanical power to become electric power. Ways of working generator when rotor is rotate accordingly wire mesh is going to cuut magnetic force on macnetice poles, so that happen distincetion of voltage, and from this ways there is electric current. Current from wire which all of the end of wire connected with ring garer. In that rings make brushes move, as connected terminal out. (Eri rozidin, generator understanding, generator work team, 2013. Available http://www.indo-maritem.com) In order to maintain the performance of the generator, it is necessary to do maintenance and checking. Because the generator is very important in the lighting systems as well as the performance of diesel engines, care and checking should be done so as not to interfere with daily activities on board including loading and unloading process. These treatments include: How to operate and maintainen generators, problems that often arise in the generator when it is not optimally treated, know the systems that often occur damagege to the generator. After doing maintenance periodically, it will detect anything that results from maintenance, such as: Know about operational system of the generator and its maintenance, keeping the generator working optimally, then we also that on generators often damage to jacket system cooling fress water, sea water cooling system, fuel system. Keywords :Generator, jacket system cooling fress water, sea water cooling system, fuel system.
