Abstract

The security of the passenger boarding process is an important aspect in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of passenger terminals. In its implementation, several problems may still occur, including passenger congestion, limited inspection time, potential disorder in queues, and the less optimal implementation of baggage inspection and security technology. These conditions indicate the importance of implementing standardized baggage inspection procedures, optimizing the use of X-Ray technology, and improving the competence of security officers to support the security of the passenger boarding process. This study aims to analyze the influence of baggage inspection procedures, the use of X-Ray technology, and officer competence on the security of the passenger boarding process at Gapura Surya Nusantara Passenger Terminal, Surabaya. This study employed a quantitative method with a causal approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents. The data were analyzed using SPSS V.25 through validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, and coefficient of determination analysis. The multiple linear regression analysis resulted in the equation Y = 2.229 + 0.300X1 + 0.160X2 + 0.291X3 + µ. The t-test results showed that baggage inspection procedures had a positive and significant effect on the security of the passenger boarding process, with a t-value of 4.019 and a significance value of 0.000. The use of X-Ray technology also had a positive and significant effect, with a t-value of 2.258 and a significance value of 0.026. Officer competence had a positive and significant effect, with a t-value of 4.427 and a significance value of 0.000. All three independent variables showed a positive effect on the security of the passenger boarding process. The R Square value of 0.529 indicates that baggage inspection procedures, the use of X-Ray technology, and officer competence explain 52.9% of the variation in boarding process security, while the remaining 47.1% is explained by other factors outside the research model. Therefore, continuous improvement of baggage inspection procedures, optimization of X-Ray technology, and enhancement of officer competence are necessary to support a safe, orderly, and effective passenger boarding process. Keywords: Baggage Inspection Procedures, X-Ray Technology, Officer Competence, Passenger Boarding Security, Passenger Terminal.
