Abstract

The Clas I Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Pekanbaru has an important role in supporting marine safety by providing timely and accurate weather information and forecasts. This study aims to find out how BMKG carries out the processes of observation, analysis, and delivering weather reports that are useful for shipping activities in the Riau region and surrounding areas. The methods used include literature study, observation, and interviews with BMKG officers. The results of the study show that BMKG Class I Pekanbaru conducts routine atmospheric observations, processes meteorological data using numerical modeling technology, and provides weather information through various channels, such as the official website, applications, radio, social media, and direct coordination with port authorities. The information provided, including early warnings of extreme weather, helps increase the awareness of sailors and marine transport operators about potential dangers such as strong winds, high waves, heavy rain, and reduced visibility. Therefore, the role of BMKG Class I Pekanbaru is very important in supporting shipping safety and reducing the risk of accidents at sea. Keywords: Weather forecast, Meteorological information, Maritime safety / Navigation safety.
