Abstract
The leadership demonstrated by ship officers has a significant influence on improving the performance of crew members (ABK) on board. The shipboard working environment, which is limited in space and requires a high level of discipline, makes effective leadership an important factor in fostering crew motivation, discipline, and sense of responsibility. This study aims to analyze the influence of ship officers’ leadership on the performance of crew members aboard KN. Karimun Jawa. The research applied a qualitative method, with data collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Information was obtained from direct observations during practical training activities as well as interviews with the Ship Master and Chief Officer of KN. Karimun Jawa. The results reveal that leadership characterized by decisiveness, discipline, effective communication, and positive role modeling contributes significantly to enhancing crew performance. In addition, officers who consistently provide guidance and supervision are able to increase crew motivation and accountability. Therefore, the leadership of ship officers can be regarded as one of the determining factors in achieving safe, efficient, and successful ship operations.
