Abstract
Sea Trial is a crucial stage in ensuring the seaworthiness and safety of a vessel before it is authorized to operate in navigational waters. Every ship is required to meet technical, administrative, and operational requirements in order to minimize the risk of maritime accidents and environmental pollution. Therefore, the role of the Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) as the maritime safety authority is essential in the Sea Trial inspection process. This study aims to identify the technical aspects tested during the Sea Trial of MV Lintas Kepri, to understand the implementation process of the Sea Trial conducted by Ship Safety Inspectors, and to analyze the role of KSOP Class II Tanjungpinang in ensuring vessel seaworthiness. This research employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including direct observation during the Inland Practice Program (PRADA), interviews with relevant officials, and documentation of ship inspection activities. The research was conducted at the KSOP Class II Tanjungpinang, with MV Lintas Kepri as the object of observation. The results show that the Sea Trial of MV Lintas Kepri includes testing of engine performance, steering and maneuvering systems, vessel stability, navigation equipment functionality, and the completeness of safety and fire-fighting equipment. KSOP Class II Tanjungpinang conducts comprehensive supervision of the Sea Trial process in accordance with applicable maritime regulations. This inspection process has proven effective in ensuring that the vessel meets seaworthiness standards prior to operation. In conclusion, the Sea Trial inspection is a vital instrument in ensuring maritime safety and operational readiness of vessels. Proper implementation of the Sea Trial, supported by strict supervision from KSOP, plays a significant role in preventing potential maritime accidents and enhancing confidence in safe and reliable sea transportation.
