Abstract
The decision to jumpship is the act of a crew member leaving their job before the end of their contract. This phenomenon is a common problem in the shipping industry and can be influenced by various factors, such as the fulfillment of rights, working conditions, and occupational safety. This study aims to analyze these three factors in the decision to jumpship among tugboat crew members at PT. Karya Sarana Samudera in Jakarta, both partially and simultaneously. This study used a quantitative method with a quota sampling technique. Based on the Slovin formula calculation, a minimum sample size of 55 respondents was obtained. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results showed that the fulfillment of rights, working conditions, and occupational safety had a negative and significant effect on the decision to jumpship. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis yielded the equation Y = 20.791 − 0.413X₁ − 0.388X₂ − 0.394X₃ + μ. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.730, indicating that 73.0% of the variation in jumpship decisions could be explained by the three independent variables, while the remaining 27.0% was influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. Therefore, the better the fulfillment of rights, working conditions, and occupational safety provided by the company, the lower the tendency of crew members to jumpship.
