Abstract
Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) plays a crucial role in preventing workplace accidents, especially in port environments where operational risks are relatively high. This study examines how OSH management factors relate to unsafe behaviors among workers at Tegal Port. Observations show that some workers still carry out their tasks without appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), reinforcing the notion that many incidents at the port stem from weak OSH implementation. This research applies a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 35 workers were selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered using questionnaires and analyzed with the Spearman Rank test. The results indicate that OSH management is generally in the “adequate” category (71.4%), while unsafe behaviors remain at a moderate level (65.7%). Statistical analysis confirms a significant relationship between OSH management and unsafe actions (p-value = 0.000, p < 0.05), suggesting that stronger OSH practices are associated with a lower likelihood of workers engaging in unsafe behaviors. In conclusion, strengthening OSH management—through consistent supervision, adequate PPE provision, and improved safety training—is essential to reducing unsafe actions among workers at Tegal Port.
