Abstract
The centrifugal pump plays a very important role in the cooling water system of a four-stroke Dongfeng diesel engine, as it functions to circulate cooling water in order to maintain a stable engine operating temperature. If the performance of the centrifugal pump is not optimal, the cooling system will be disrupted and may cause engine overheating. Therefore, regular maintenance and repair of the centrifugal pump are required to ensure the reliability and safety of engine operation. This scientific paper aims to explain the working principle of the centrifugal pump, identify common failures that occur in the centrifugal pump as part of the cooling water system, and describe proper maintenance and repair procedures for the four-stroke Dongfeng engine. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through literature review, field observation, and documentation during engine maintenance activities. The results show that common failures of the centrifugal pump include impeller wear, leakage of the mechanical seal, bearing damage, and a decrease in cooling water flow rate. Routine maintenance actions such as component inspection, system cleaning, bearing lubrication, and replacement of worn parts can improve pump performance and extend the service life of the equipment. Proper maintenance and repair ensure that the cooling system of the four-stroke Dongfeng engine operates optimally and reliably.
