Abstract
The main discussion in this paper is designed to provide deeper insight into the causes of ship departure delays at Sri Bintan Pura Port. Delays in ship departures are a common problem in the shipping sector. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that trigger ship delays and their impacts. In the data collection process, the author used methods derived from interviews, direct observation of port activities, documents, archives, and other sources. The analysis revealed that factors such as overloading, unfavorable weather, labor shortages, and lack of communication and information contributed significantly to delays. The impacts of these delays include financial losses, passenger inconvenience, damage to the company's image, potential safety issues, and effects on supporting sectors. This study recommends better management of departure schedules, routine ship maintenance, and increased collaboration between various parties involved in shipping operations to reduce delays and improve efficiency and safety.
