Abstract
This research aims to determine efforts and strategies to improve supervision and monitoring of shipping navigation aids installed in shipping lanes at Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang. The problems discussed are the function of shipping navigation aids for shipping lane safety, what types of buoys are used in port entry and exit areas and obstacles arising from the role of shipping navigation aids for shipping lane safety. To collect the data used, the author using methods obtained through interviews, observation, namely seeing directly activities at the port, books, archives and other sources. From the results of the discussion it can be concluded that Shipping Navigation Aids for Shipping Channel Safety function to determine the position and/or course of the ship; notifying of dangers/obstacles to shipping; indicating the boundaries of safe shipping lanes; marking lines separating ship traffic: indicating special areas and/or activities in waters; and shows the territorial boundaries of a country. Although there are still several activity factors that become obstacles in its implementation, we are trying our best to make the process run as well as possible.
