Abstract
Diesel Power Plants (DPP) play an important role in supplying electrical energy in remote areas, including the Sarmi Diesel Power Plant operated by PT. PLN (Persero). However, the aging condition of diesel engines leads to high fuel consumption and decreased operational efficiency. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of fuel oil consumption in relation to the loading pattern of the MAN D2482 LE 201 diesel engine at the Sarmi DPP, Papua. The research method employed is a quantitative descriptive analysis through an energy audit using operational data, including fuel consumption, electrical energy production (kWh), and engine loading patterns during the observation period. The results indicate that non-optimal loading patterns significantly affect fuel consumption. Operating the engine at a load level close to its optimal capacity improves fuel efficiency and reduces operational costs. Furthermore, the analysis of saving, gain, and benefit demonstrates the potential for energy savings that can be achieved through improvements in load management and operational strategies. This study is expected to serve as a reference for enhancing energy efficiency and operational reliability of diesel power plants, particularly those with long operational lifetimes.
