Abstract

This study aims to analyze the sandblasting, painting, and coating processes on ships during docking activities at PT. Janata Marina Indah Semarang. This process is a crucial stage in ship maintenance and repair to ensure corrosion resistance and maintain the operational performance of the ship. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with direct observation, interviews with field workers, and technical documentation of the process. The results of the painting inspection analysis in the form of Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements meet the BKI standard of 12 thanks to TK painting. In checking the thickness of the hull plate for the results received refer to the BKI standard of 9.1 HRB if the plate thickness is less than that value, then the plate is declared standard and the ship must be replated. The results of the thickness test with the FI specimen value for each plate thickness at 9.7 HRB with the results of the F2 plate thickness for each thickness of 9.6 HRB while for the F3 thickness at 9.1 HRB. It is still within the safe standard according to BKI because it is included in the hardness of mild steel due to the standard plate thickness. Based on what is used in the painting process at PT. Janata Marina Indah Semarang after sandblasting work is done painting, namely the process of ship maintenance and protection and on the hull of the ship from the danger of ship damage due to corrosion and fouling on the hull of the TK Berkat 12 ship, three coating layers are carried out on the BGA area using AC intermediate AC and AF primer paint and two coatings on the AGA area using AC primer paint and finishing the area of AC primer coating of 3251 m², intermediate AC of 3223 m², AF of 3223 m², and AGA finishing of 928 m². This study concludes that the effectiveness of the process is highly dependent on job planning, tools, and operator skills. Recommendations are given for improving project management, technical training, and continuous evaluation. Keywords : Painting, Docking.
