Abstract
This study examines efforts to improve time efficiency in the sandblasting, coating, and painting processes on ship hulls at PT Janata Marina Indah Semarang using the Critical Path Method (CPM). Hull system maintenance is crucial for maintaining seaworthiness, especially since the corrosive marine environment can accelerate the deterioration process. This study analyzes efforts to improve time efficiency in the sandblasting, coating, and painting processes on ship hulls through the application of the Critical Path Method (CPM). Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data was obtained through field observations, interviews, and document analysis to identify the interdependencies between activities and their timescales. This study demonstrated that the CPM implementation successfully identified 22 critical path activities (A-B-D-E-F-G-H-I-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X) and 2 non-critical paths (C and J). Initial analysis identified that the typical time to complete a job with a hull area of 4,717 m² was 320 hours (40 days) with a total cost of Rp 277,046,000. By optimizing using the Critical Path Method, the hull area of 4,717 m2 was shortened to 298 hours or 37 days with a workforce of 10 people and a budget of Rp 257,999,088. The Critical Path Method focuses more on time and cost efficiency, rather than reducing the number of workers and area volume. Keywords: Sandblasting, Coating, Painting, Critical Path Method (CPM), Time Efficiency, Project Management
