Abstract
This paper aims to determine the welding systems and procedures implemented at PT Janata Marina Indah, a shipbuilding company engaged in shipbuilding and maintenance. Welding is a crucial process in the shipping industry because it plays a role in determining the structural strength and overall safety of the ship. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the importance of implementing standardized welding procedures in supporting the quality and competitiveness of the national shipbuilding industry. Data collection methods in this study were carried out through direct field observations, interviews with technical workers, literature studies, and company standard operating documents. The welding procedures at this company include material preparation, equipment inspection, welder feasibility testing, and welding execution. The results of the discussion indicate that PT Janata Marina Indah has implemented a welding system based on international standards, as stipulated by the American Welding Society (AWS) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In addition, the company also implements a quality management system and strict work safety procedures as an integral part of the welding process. With well-organized systems and procedures, PT Janata Marina Indah is able to guarantee the quality of welded joints and maintain safety in the production process. Consistent application of welding procedures is expected to improve the quality of work results and the efficiency of the overall production process. Keywords: Welding, Maintenance, Safety
