Abstract
Watertight Doors are one aspect of safety equipment on board a ship. This equipment serves to protect other accommodations from fire and water leaks. Watertight Doors also function as noise dampers in the engine room. Watertight doors and windows on a ship are inseparable equipment. These doors are made using steel to be strong enough to withstand water pressure. The purpose of writing this observation or paper is to determine the factors causing damage to watertight doors and their function to prevent water from entering the KN SAR PERMADI 249 ship. Watertight door maintenance includes routine lubrication of door hinges, watertight door repairs include painting watertight doors and replacing damaged rubber. The data collection method in this paper uses observation methods, interview methods, documentation methods, and literature studies. The results of the discussion in this scientific paper are that maintenance and repair of watertight doors that are not maintained according to procedures can result in damage. In conclusion, maintenance and repair of watertight doors can support safety on board a ship. Keywords: Watertight Doors, maintenance, repair.
