Abstract
Crew planning for ship crews is an important activity at PT BSM Crew ServiceIndonesia. This activity is the process of placing crew on a ship with new crew whowill be employed on the ship. The crew planning mechanism is not working well so ithas an impact on the smoothness of crewing management and needs to be improved. The aim of this research is, to find out the obstacles faced in the implementation ofthe ship's crew planning mechanism in order to expedite crewing management at PTBSM Crew Service Indonesia and to find out the efforts made to overcome theobstacles faced in the implementation of the ship's crew planning mechanism in orderto make it smoother. crewing management at PT BSM Crew Service Indonesia. The results of the research show that the obstacles faced in implementing the crewplanning mechanism at PT BSM Crew Service Indonesia are the lack of experience innew hire crew, the implementation of certificate revalidation which is often forgottenby the crew, the lack of awareness of ship crew in maintaining their health so that theyfail in the medical check process. up. Efforts have been made to overcome the obstacles faced in implementing the crewplanning mechanism at PT BSM Crew Service Indonesia, reminding crew to pay more attention to the validity period of their certificates, double-checking writtenexperiences, ensuring crew always maintain their health.
