Abstract

This paper is prepared to address various questions regarding the ship agency service process, starting from the vessel's arrival at the port until its departure to the next destination. The discussion covers the institutions involved when a ship is about to dock, the required documents, as well as the common obstacles encountered during the execution of ship agency activities at the port. This paper adopts a qualitative approach using a case study method. The data analyzed were obtained through interviews with a shipping company and direct observations. The focus of this study is on the implementation of agency services at PT. Samudera Makmur Agensi in supporting vessel operations. The purpose of this paper is to understand ship agency activities, the preparation process from arrival to departure, integrate theories acquired during academic studies with field practice, and identify the steps involved in providing ship agency services. The observations show that coordination, communication, and collaboration between the shipping agent and relevant authorities are crucial. The ship clearance process must also be carried out in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. Keywords: Agency Services, Vessel Documents, Challenges
