Abstract
An efficient coal loading and unloading process is very important to support the smooth operation of the Rembang Sluke Steam Power Plant (PLTU), which depends on the supply of coal as the main fuel. PT. Samudra Adhi Jaya as the port operator at this location has a vital role in ensuring the loading and unloading process runs quickly, safely and effectively.The paper involves direct observation of the loading and unloading process at the Rembang Sluke PLTU port.The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach involving direct observation of the loading and unloading process at the PLTU Rembang Sluke port. Data was collected through interviews with port managers, stevedoring workers and other related parties, as well as observations of the equipment and infrastructure used. In addition, data analysis was carried out by comparing the existing loading and unloading processes with standard operating procedures (SOP) and best practices at other ports.The papaers results show that the main factors that influence the effectiveness of the coal loading and unloading process include the condition of the loading and unloading equipment, limited dock capacity, and the punctuality of ship arrival. Several obstacles were found, such as excess capacity of coal transport vehicles and lack of integration between the port management system and the land transportation system, affecting operational speed and efficiency.Recommendations given for optimization include improving maintenance and modernizing loading and unloading equipment, as well as developing a port management system that is more integrated with land transportation. Apart from that, it is necessary to increase dock capacity and use information technology for more accurate monitoring. By implementing this solution, it is hoped that the coal loading and unloading process at PT. Samudra Adhi Jaya can run more efficiently, support the energy needs of the Rembang Sluke PLTU, and increase the competitiveness of the energy industry in Indonesia.
