Abstract
The process of loading and unloading vehicles is one of the main activities in shipping operations that plays an important role in the smooth flow of sea transportation. PT Dharma Lautan Utama (DLU) as one of the national shipping operators, has a strategic role in providing vehicle loading and unloading services at various ports, including Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi. This study aims to describe in detail the stages, implementers, and obstacles and solutions in the vehicle loading and unloading process carried out by PT DLU at the port. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a direct observation approach, interviews with operational staff, and company document studies. The results show that the loading and unloading process involves several main stages, starting from ship and rampdoor preparation, vehicle queue arrangement, to verification of manifests and documents. This process requires close coordination between ship officers, field staff, port operators, and service users. The obstacles that are often faced include bad weather, vehicle density, and limited parking space. PT DLU implements several solutions such as optimizing ship schedules, adding officers during peak hours, and utilizing a digital administration system. By implementing good operational management, PT DLU is able to maintain the smoothness and safety of loading and unloading, as well as improve the quality of service to service users at Banyuwangi Port.
