Abstract
Sri Bintan Pura Port is a port designated for both domestic and international passenger ships, primarily fast ferries and terminal areas.International passengers are separated from the domestic area. The passenger terminal at Sri Bintan Pura Port accommodates around 2,000 people per day. Located in the city of Tanjungpinang, Sri Bintan Pura Port is one of 348 ports across Indonesia that have implemented the ISPS Code. Tanjungpinang is considered a strategic route due to its location in a border region. The objective of this observation is to understand how the implementation of the ISPS Code is being optimized within the Sri Bintan Pura Port environment by the Class II Port Authority (KSOP) of Tanjungpinang, to identify the factors that hinder the optimal implementation of the ISPS Code, and to examine the functions of the ISPS Code in enhancing security supervision at Sri Bintan Pura Port. The research method used is qualitative, based on data obtained both from field observations and literature studies. The results of the discussion conclude that the ISPS Code plays a significant role in the safety and security of transportation in port areas, particularly at Sri Bintan Pura Port. However, there are still obstacles in the implementation of the ISPS Code at the port. These include a lack of coordination among the relevant institutions, and suboptimal field application of the ISPS Code due to the strong influence of local cultural factors.
