Abstract

The problem of illegal parking is one of the crucial issues in the urban transportation system, especially in the center of community activities such as Kota Waikabubak District, West Sumba Regency. The presence of vehicles parked in the wrong place, especially on the main road, has caused various negative impacts, such as narrowing of road capacity, increasing congestion, and the potential risk of traffic accidents. The analysis technique used was multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 25. Based on the research findings and multiple regression analysis, the following equation was obtained.Y= 1.522 + 0,289 X1 + 0,221 X2 + 0,353 X3 + µ. Based on empirical facts (from the questionnaire results) and the multiple linear regression equation, it was found that the variable of parking space availability at Pasar Lama (X1) had a t-value of 3.078, which is greater than the t-table value of (1.66088). The variable of vehicle users' awareness and compliance at Pasar Lama (X2) had a t-value of 2.363 > t-table (1.66088), and the variable of monitoring and enforcement of regulations at Pasar Lama (X3) had a t-value of 3.151 > t-table (1.66088). The Adjusted R² value was 0.506, which means that 50.6% of the variation in the dependent variable related to illegal parking in Kota Waikabubak District (Y) can be explained by the independent variables: parking space availability at Pasar Lama (X1), vehicle users' awareness and compliance (X2), and monitoring and enforcement of regulations (X3). The remaining 49.4% (100% - 50.6%) is explained by other variables outside the model that were not included in this study. Thus, the research findings indicate that parking space availability at Pasar Lama, vehicle users’ awareness and compliance, as well as monitoring and enforcement of regulations at Pasar Lama, have a negative and significant effect on illegal parking in Kota Waikabubak District. Keywords: Illegal parking, Transportation, Monitoring law enforcement.
