Abstract
This research aims to examine the role and procedures involved in the maintenance of the main engine exhaust valve, as well as to identify the supporting factors that contribute to effective maintenance practices. Proper maintenance of the exhaust valve ensures that the main engine operates in accordance with standard procedures. The study was conducted over a period of four months, from August 26, 2024 to December 28, 2024, on board the MT. Shanjaya. The data utilized in this study comprise both primary and secondary sources, analyzed using a qualitative approach. The information collected includes variables directly observed from the MT. Shanjaya. The results of the analysis indicate that the role and maintenance of the exhaust valve are critical to the ship's exhaust system. The processes within the exhaust valve contribute significantly to improving engine efficiency and ensuring that the emitted gases comply with established emission standards, while also maintaining normal engine pressure and temperature.
