Abstract

The development of science and technology and the improvement of the economic sector are greatly influenced by developments in the shipping sector, so many companies use sea transportation services in their efforts to meet the needs of these companies. Shipping companies are required to be able to provide optimal service to service users in line with the great competition in the shipping business. These efforts have been realised by the use of technology on ships in shipping companies Windlass is a ship-mounted anchor crane machine for lifting and stretching anchors and anchor chains through anchor tubes. This research uses qualitative research, because the data obtained will be in the form of verbal words rather than in the form of numbers This research was made based on experience during carrying out prada, for 4 months at PT Citra Shipyard. In general, an aircraft auxiliary deck engine used to pull or lower the anchor is commonly called an anchor engine or windlass, which uses electrical energy from the generator, turning on and off the windlass engine must be in accordance with the guidelines in the manual book so that safety is maintained. In order for the windlass machine to always work optimally, it needs some maintenance Windlass machine maintenance measures aim to maintain smooth production to match the targets that have been set.
