Abstract
The loading and unloading process will run smoothly when everything goes well and there are no problems. However, it is different when the implementation has obstacles caused by human, machine, facility, weather and machine maintenance are not optimal. In this regard, this study aims to find out the factors that cause less than optimal loading and unloading activities in MT. Hy Prosper and efforts that can be made to improve the optimization of loading and unloading on MT ships. Hy Prosper. The research method of this thesis is qualitative descriptive. Data sources are taken from primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques using field research which includes, observation and documentation so that data validity techniques are obtained. The results of the study concluded that the first is Cargo Load rate and venty capacity MT. Hy Prosper, for the maximum loading rate per line is 100 m3/hr, the maximum loading rate per tank is 100 m3.hr and the venting capacity is 1100 m3/hr and what causes the lack of optimization of the loading and unloading process is the lack of familiarization and training received by the officers, the delay in the delivery of valve suction cargo oil tank parts, the procedures outlined by the company on board are less detailed and detailed as a result of which are not effective in the implementation of the Planned Maintenance System, The decrease in the performance of the seal ring valve has an impact on the decline in the performance of the suction cargo oil tank valve, namely valve leakage in the suction cargo oil tank and the use of seal ring valves that are not in accordance with specifications, Strong current and wind conditions resulting in less than optimal crew performance. The impact of these obstacles is the delay and suboptimal loading and unloading process as well as losses for the Company. Efforts that can be made are familiarization on board to crew members involved in loading and unloading activities on board, providing certified valve suction cargo oil tank spare parts, in accordance with the required specifications, Planned Maintenance System (PMS) is carried out according to procedures, Improving maintenance of valve suction cargo oil tanks and Increasing supervision of loading and unloading procedures by officers on board the ship in the midst of unfavorable weather.
