Abstract
Airbag is a kind of balloon with a length of ± 20 (twenty) meters which is pumped to act as a cushion to pull the ship from the surface of the sea to the dock. This tool is usually cylindrical in shape made of reinforced rubber layers and has a high load capacity that functions as a support tool to lift and stabilize the ship. The objectives that the author wants to achieve in compiling this Scientific Paper are to be able to find out the factors causing airbag limitations, to find out what the effect of airbag limitations is on the efficiency of docking activities, to find out the strategies implemented by PT Dok Pantai Lamongan to overcome airbag limitations. Therefore, the author uses a method by conducting observations, interviews, and data documentation during practice at PT Dok Pantai Lamongan. The limitations of airbags are caused by the incompatibility of airbag use, frequent leaks in airbags when docking and undocking activities take place, the lack of workshops for storing and maintaining airbags and the absence of follow-up in airbag procurement. So that it affects the docking time to be longer, experiencing long queues and rescheduling, increased damage to ships or slipway facilities and the addition of daily workers. It can increase the efficiency of operational costs so that costs increase. The strategies implemented to overcome airbag limitations include: conducting regular airbag maintenance, ensuring clearing of the slipway area, building a large workshop and following up on airbag procurement. The results of this paper are that the cause of the limitations is the frequent leakage during docking activities, resulting in docking times being longer than the initial plan so that periodic maintenance and repairs are carried out. PT Dok Pantai Lamongan will choose better materials and have high quality. Keywords:Influence,Limitations,Airbag,Docking.
