Abstract
Introduction: The pedestrian air system on board the ship is generated by an auxiliary engine called a compressor that uses electric power from a generator. Air is one of the supports for the operation of diesel engines, where air is the first step to start the engine. Objective: To find out the cause of the compressor not being able to fill the air bottle on the ship. Methods: The data collected and used in the preparation of this paper is information data obtained through direct observation or observations obtained in the form of variables in the form of information originating from the ship IN SHIP MV. IBRAHIM ZAHIER PT. INDONESIAN FERTILIZER LOGISTICS. Results: The results of this paper are used as knowledge material to find out more early if there is a problem that causes the compressor to be slow to fill the air bottle so that it can be immediately resolved so it does not interfere with shipping operations. The working principle of the air compressor: Air is sucked in by the low pressure piston through the filter (filter) and enters the cylinder through the low pressure suction valve. After being compressed in the cylinder. The air exits through the low pressure valve, then the air is cooled in the inter cooler and then the air enters the high pressure cylinder through the high pressure suction valve and the air exits through the inter cooler to the air tube (air bottle) through the high pressure pressure valve. As long as the compressor is working it is necessary to have cooling, cooling is taken from sea water and so that the compressor is not damaged, certain parts are installed with zinc anodes to avoid corrosion.
