Abstract
The maritime world has a significant impact on science and technology, as is the case in Indonesia. The largest archipelagic country in the world has abundant and diverse natural resources that deserve to be developed and utilized in line with current technological advancements. The development of technology in the maritime sector itself cannot be separated from human activities within it. The use of containers in general cargo transportation has been rapidly increasing, and recently, the maritime world has seen significant advancements in container security systems, aiming to ensure that cargo can arrive at its destination port safely, quickly, and affordably for maritime transport service users.With the smooth operation of sea transportation, price disparities between goods from one island to another can be stabilized, especially between producing (producer) and consuming islands. This study aims to understand and analyze the causes of cargo damage, container inspection procedures to prevent damage, and actions taken to prevent cargo damage. The analysis method used in this research is qualitative analysis, employing techniques such as interviews, field observations, and data collection through observation, interviews, and library research. The results of this study indicate that most cargo damage originates from human error. Handling procedures are also divided into several sections, and preventive measures against cargo damage are explained. Therefore, knowledge about the causes of cargo damage needs to be understood to prevent such occurrences, and the handling procedures must be trained to the relevant parties.
