Abstract

In the field of maritime transportation, especially the transportation of goods or cargo, there have been changes and improvements, namely with the advent of containers that have become a new system. Now, it has had a comprehensive impact on the cargo transportation system, which is increasingly improving over time. The rapid advancement of the container system aims to deliver cargo safely, quickly, and efficiently from the port of origin to the destination port to minimize cargo damage as much as possible. Therefore, the container cargo carried by the ship must be completely safe from all situations, conditions, and circumstances during the voyage so that the container cargo does not suffer any damage from the loading port to the unloading port or destination port. To reduce physical damage to containers and their contents, proper stowage of the cargo during the loading process at the port and adherence to standard lashing procedures are essential, as they can significantly impact the safety of the ship and its cargo during the voyage. The analysis method used in this research is qualitative analysis with techniques such as interviews, field observations, and data collection through observation, interviews, and library research. The results of this study show the principles of cargo arrangement and security, stating that cargo transported in containers, land transportation vehicles, barges, trains, and other means of transportation must be packaged and secured to prevent damage during transit, as well as to prevent damage to the ship's cargo and protect people on the ship and the marine environment.
