Abstract

Generator is one type of auxiliary engine on board which is used as a means of generating electricity by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. The generator works when the rotor is rotated so that the winding of the wire will cut the magnetic force on the magnetic poles of different voltages, then an electric current will flow through the cable or wire, both ends of which are connected by rings as the outgoing connecting terminal. The generator has a very important role in supplying electricity to the ship, so that the generator can run normally and in order to avoid disturbances, performance optimization and maintenance are carried out periodically in accordance with the provisions and based on the manual so that the generator does not experience damage during operation and runs normally. The purpose of optimizing performance and maintenance is to prevent errors in starting the engine and prevent damage to components when the engine is working, because one of the causes of generator damage is the lack of maintenance on the generator due to the limited availability of spare parts on board. The source of the data was obtained by the author through direct observation during land practice on the KN.P 330 ship using the observation method (observation).
