Abstract
In this study, four research variables are used: the role of the harbor master, the seaworthiness of the ship, and the ISM Code as independent variables that affect the dependent variable, namely maritime safety. The focus of this research is to evaluate how the role of the harbor master, the seaworthiness of the ship, and the ISM Code influence the dependent variable, namely maritime safety. Primary and secondary data are used in this research. The research subjects are the ship crew and port officers at Ketapang port. This study involves 75 people who work on the ships and as port officers at Ketapang port. The regression equation produced from the research results and data analysis is a multiple linear regression: Y = 0,142 +0,389X1+0,186X2+0,410X3+µ The results of the multiple linear regression equation show that the roles of the Port Authority, ship seaworthiness, and ISM Code have a positive and significant partial influence on each other. Thus, the coefficient of determination obtained an r square value of 0.610, which means that these three variables are responsible for 61.0% of navigation safety, and 39.0% is derived from other variables not discussed in this study. The analysis conducted shows that out of the three factors influencing the variable of shipping safety at the Ketapang port, the ISM Code ranks first. Furthermore, hypothesis testing indicates that the roles of the Port Authority, ship seaworthiness, and the ISM Code have a positive and significant impact on shipping safety.
