Abstract

The salt content or commonly called salinity in seawater depends on each waters which is influenced by the environment. The value of salinity is the level of dissolved salt levels in the air. The types of salt contained in it include 55% chloride, 31% sodium, 8% sulfate, 4% magnesium, and 2% other salts. Particles that affect the value of salinity are particles contained in the air or called the TDS (Total Dissolve Solid) content. This study aims to determine the value of salinity and TDS value in seawater in the port of Tanjung Emas, Semarang, using deposited and circulated methods. The author uses the method of measuring salinity and TDS every day for 7 days on precipitated media and circulating media. The results of this study indicate that the values of salinity and TDS in precipitated seawater media have decreased steadily, while those in circulated seawater have high salinity and TDS values. This is because the mineral content in which there is salt settles to the bottom of the seawater when it is precipitated, while in the circulating water the mineral content dissolves and spreads in seawater so that the TDS and salinity values remain high. Keywords : Salinity, TDS (Total Dissolve Solid), sea water
