Abstract
The port is one of the important parts in supporting elements of sea transportation activities such as where ships dock, loading and unloading goods and passengers who travel using ship transportation. In its operation the Port has infrastructure supporting daily activities where most of the infrastructure is made of metals such as steel, copper and aluminum. The purpose of this study is to determine the corrosion rate of various metals (steel, copper and aluminum) contaminated with sea water at the Port of Semarang so that maritime business people at the Port can plan maintenance and repair of tools that use metal. Researchers used the coupon installation corrosion rate calculation method with the ASTM D 2688-05 standard. The results of this study indicate that all metals experience corrosion rates with values above 5 MPY, so in order not to suffer rapid damage it is necessary to protect the metal corrosion of the Port which is easy to paint.
