Abstract

The development and growth occurring in Blitar Regency are very rapid. The increasing vehicle density every year has led to several issues, notably traffic accidents on the Blitar – Malang road. Frequent accidents reduce comfort and endanger the safety of riders, especially motorcyclists. There are four factors contributing to traffic accidents on the Blitar – Malang road: rider behavior, vehicle condition, environment, and road condition. This study aims to determine the extent to which rider behavior, vehicle condition, environment, and road condition affect riding safety for motorcyclists on the Blitar – Malang road. Data collection utilized both primary and secondary data. Primary data consists of questionnaire results regarding the impact of rider behavior, vehicle condition, environment, and road condition from 100 respondents. Secondary data includes traffic accident statistics. This study is a descriptive quantitative study using multiple linear regression analysis, with tests such as the F test, T test, and R-squared test performed using SPSS software. Based on the study of rider behavior (X1), vehicle condition (X2), environment (X3), and road condition (X4), the following conclusion was reached: Y = 0.341 + 0.137.X1 + 0.179.X2 + 0.286.X3 + 0.119.X4 + µ. The results indicate that all variables significantly influence traffic accidents on the Blitar – Malang road, contributing 71.4% to the explanation of the accidents. Keywords: Riding safety, rider behavior, vehicle condition, environment, and road condition.
