Abstract

The Ship Guidance process will run smoothly when everything goes well and there are no obstacles. However, it is different when the implementation of Insufficient Human Resources / Lack of Guides and the Addition and Maintenance of Facilities / Guide Ships that have not been realized and bad weather conditions resulting in a delay in the Optimization of Ship Guidance at PT. Port Indonesia Banjarmasin Branch. Lack of Human Resources / Lack of Guidance Personnel and Addition and Maintenance of Facilities / Guide Ships that have not been realized as well as bad weather cause suboptimal Ship Guidance and can cause losses for PT. The Banjarmasin branch of the Indonesian Port itself and the Shipping Party and Consumers. In this regard, this study aims to find out the factors that cause the occurrence of suboptimal ship guidance in Pelindo Banjarmasin and efforts that can be made to improve the optimization of PT. Port Indonesia Banjarmasin Branch. The research method of this thesis is qualitative descriptive. Data sources are taken from primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques using field research which includes, observation, interviews and documentation so that data validity techniques are obtained. The results of the study concluded that the factors that caused the non-optimal ship guidance process in Pelindo Banjarmasin were the existence of insufficient human resources / lack of guides and the addition and maintenance of facilities / guide ships that have not been realized and bad weather. The impact of this is the decline in the performance of Ship Guides, complaints from shipping companies, and changes in schedules and losses for PT. Pelindo Banjarmasin and Shipping and Consumers. Efforts that can be made are to carry out Maintenance and Maintenance of Equipment in accordance with procedures, improve the performance of human resources by changing work shifts, as well as the addition of guidance officers and anticipate bad weather by coordinating with BMKG..
