Abstract
Transportation is everything related to the movement of people and goods from one area to another. The development of transportation allows various activities to be transported by land, air or sea with various types of transportation. Mode selection is a process of separating people's journeys to understand the relationship between modes and factors that influence the choice of other modes. This mode selection determines the fastest mode and determines affordable costs by understanding travelers who use various forms of ships, modes of transportation from one area to another. This mode selection stage is a sea transportation planning process whose task is to determine the number of people or goods who will use or choose various modes of sea transportation available to serve a point of origin to a destination. The study was carried out to determine the number of arrivals of container ships belonging to PT. SPIL that docks at the port of Semarang, time for loading and unloading containers, and also the costs required for loading and unloading containers. The calculations used to determine the loading and unloading time for Box/Crane/Hour (BCH) containers and also the calculation of loading and unloading costs use = ), loading and unloading time has an average of 5.56% depending on the amount of cargo, loading and unloading costs have an average of 5.56% from 18 ships with a cargo of 3645 containers. With a total cost of Rp. 2,151,139,000 from the results of these calculations, it is known that the biggest influence on the choice of sea transportation mode using containers is the number of container ship arrivals at 11.11%. Choosing a sea transportation mode using containers is quite effective if there are no storage-demurage costs Keywords : Up to six keywords should also be included.
