Abstract

The main discussion in writing this paper is to ensure security, a system is needed that guarantees the safety and security of ships and port facilities in the Jepara Port area in accordance with the ISPS Code and ISM Code regulations. The aim of this research is to find out the role of the harbormaster in training, supervision and shipping security at the Port of Jepara, what are the responsibilities and duties of the harbormaster in ship security and safety and to find out what are the obstacles in implementing the ISPS Code and ISM Code at the Port of Jepara. To collect the data used, the author used a method obtained through observation which involved directly seeing activities at the port, interviews and documentation. The results of this discussion can be concluded that the ISPS Code and ISM Code play an important role in security and safety in port areas, especially Jepara Port, as well as being a means of learning regarding the documents required in the ISPS Code and ISM Code requirements where there are still obstacles, namely the lack of several facilities to support ISPS Code and ISM Code movement at Jepara Port.
