Abstract

The purpose of the discussion in writing this paper is regarding the ability of the ship's crew to use safety equipment which needs to be done, especially the use of fire extinguisher equipment, which causes a decline in skills and even forgets about using safety equipment, namely because the use of safety equipment is only a formality and the crew's lack of attention to the ship's safety equipment. division of tasks in each exercise. The way to carry out training on using fire extinguishers so that it runs according to Standard Operating Procedures is by conducting socialization and understanding at safety meetings and conducting training on using fire extinguishers. Discipline and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures are very necessary to support the success of ship crews in dealing with emergencies. In handling emergencies on ships, it cannot be separated from the availability of safety equipment that is in good condition and ready to use as well as the skills of the crew in using them. Apart from this, the busy schedule of the ship has an effect on the physical and psychological condition of the ship's crew and also plays an important role in carrying out training in using fire extinguishers.
