Abstract

Security and safety in navigation are important things in navigation, therefore it is necessary to have adequate facilities to support shipping security and safety. In order to anticipate accidents and traffic congestion in the Cilacap waters, the Ministry of Maritime Transportation has an implementing unit, namely the Cilacap Navigation District Office, which has the main task of carrying out operational planning, procurement and supervision of Marine Aids to Navigation. Marine Aids to Navigation is very necessary in water areas to support security and safety, therefore optimal maintenance of Marine Aids to Navigation is needed to provide adequate supporting facilities and minimize risks that occur in Cilacap water areas. The purpose of this observation is to find out the efforts made by the Cilacap Navigation District in optimizing Marine Aids to Navigation maintenance, to find out the obstacles faced by the Cilacap Navigation District in optimizing Marine Aids to Navigation maintenance, and the risks that will occur if Marine Aids to Navigation is not treated. The method that the author used in this observation was field observation and interviews with the Cilacap Navigation District. The results of this observation are the efforts made by the Cilacap Navigation District in optimizing Marine Aids to Navigation maintenance in accordance with predetermined standards, the obstacles experienced by the Cilacap Navigation District as well as the solutions made in optimizing the maintenance of Marine Aids to Navigation which experienced problems, obstacles which were not handled properly. either can affect Marine Aids to Navigation treatment resulting in high risk. Therefore, the Cilacap Navigation District is making efforts by holding training for Marine Aids to Navigation officers and approaching fishermen and local residents by holding seminars on the importance of Marine Aids to Navigation in maritime areas.
