Abstract
Indonesia is known as one of the maritime countries in the world because it is located in a very wide sea area/territory, has many islands, is surrounded by sea and water areas and most of the population works in water areas. Sea trasnportation in Indonesia has an important and strategic role in the mobilization of people and goods (logistics), which is one of the driving elements of the national economy. The presence of an adequate port plays a major role in supporting existing mobilization activities such as docking ships, loading and unloading of goods, and boarding and disembarking passengers. Patimban port is one of the ports that is still under construction starting 2019. One of the ports problems faced by Patimban Port is the handling of ship arrivals. This observation aims to find out how the handling of ship arrivals by PT Bahtera Othnie Abadi as an agency company at the Patimbsn Port and to find the obstacles in handling ship aarrivals. This observation uses descriptive qualitative method to descrobe the object. This method is used to get all clear descriptions of procedures for handling ship arrivals at Patimban Port. Based on observation, there many obstacles in handling ship arrivals at Patimban Port. There are still delays in the arrival of ship that are not on schedule, problems related to supporting the entry of ships, expiration of administrative requirenments from the sailors themselves. Efforts that must be made are to coordinate and communicate related to ship arrival constraints at the port. Keywords: handling, agency, ship, port, transportation
