Abstract
Agency Services in Handling Ship Arrivals and Departures at PT. Gemalindo Shipping Batam is a business sector of the Agency Shipping Company which aims to serve the needs of ships and crew when docking at the dock until leaving. PT Gemalindo Shipping Batam is the agent for the Arrival and Departure of Clear in and Clear Out Ships for Swadaya Lestari Ships. The important role of operational agents is very influential in the smooth running of a ship when berthing, loading/unloading and sailing. This is the main task of the agency before the ship arrives and before the ship departs, known as Clearance in and Clearance out. Good relationships between company management, agents, principals and related agencies must be established for the smooth running of operational agents in the field in carrying out their duties. The process of Clearing in and Clearing out a ship must be supported by a letter of notification of the ship's arrival and departure, main documents and other supporting documents to make it easier to process permits for entering and leaving the ship. Agency services are an important role in the smooth running of ship activities at the port. Agency activities in the field must be further improved to become more professional agents in the future and be able to compete with other agencies. The data used in this research is primary data obtained through field observations and direct interviews with PT operational agents. Gemalindo Shipping Batam during the author's land practice and secondary data obtained from books in the library and other reading sources relating to the subject matter taken.
