Abstract

Ships are a fire-prone environment, given their operational complexity and vulnerability to external factors such as bad weather and flammable materials. Therefore, firefighting training is a crucial aspect in preparing for emergency situations on board. This study aims to analyze the implementation of firefighting exercises by the Semarang National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) Team on the KN Ship. SAR Sadewa 231, focusing on evaluating the effectiveness of the exercise in improving crew readiness and skills in dealing with fires. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through direct observation, interviews with members of the BASARNAS Team, and analysis of related documents. The results showed that firefighting drills were carried out periodically with realistic simulation scenarios, involving all crew members. Post-exercise evaluations are also conducted to identify weaknesses and areas of improvement. However, there are still some challenges, such as limited training time and inadequate equipment. In conclusion, the implementation of firefighting exercises by the Semarang BASARNAS Team on the KN Ship. SAR Sadewa 231 has made a significant contribution in improving the readiness and skills of crew in dealing with fire situations at sea. Recommendations for increased exercise effectiveness include increased exercise frequency, procurement of more sophisticated firefighting equipment, and improved coordination between relevant agencies.
