Abstract

Along with the development of science and technology, navigation equipment on ships has also developed which can help in providing direction and position of the ship. Ship navigation equipment is a tool that can make it easier for ships to determine the direction of a ship. The main function of ship navigation equipment is determining the position and direction of travel, including observing weather conditions. Electronic Navigation Tools are tools used in the process of directing a ship's movement from one point to another safely and smoothly and to avoid dangers or obstacles to navigation. Damage is any change to an object, often a physical object, that reduces it from its initial state. Broadly it can be defined as "changes introduced into the system that affect current or future performance". The problems in this research include what methods can be used to determine the position of the ship when electronic navigation equipment is damaged, what are the factors causing damage to the aids electronic navigation, what obstacles often occur in determining the position of a ship without the help of electronic navigation aids. This research aims to determine the factors that cause damage to electronic navigation aids, to find out the methods used to determine the position of the ship when the electronic navigation aids are damaged, to understand the obstacles that often occur in determining the position of the ship without the aid of electronic navigation aids. The results of the research show Bearing is one of the factors that can be used to determine the position of a ship when electronic navigation equipment is damaged. Factors causing damage to electronic navigation equipment are power supply, natural factors, and human error. Obstacles that often occur in determining the position of a ship without the help of electronic navigation aids are problems with uncertain weather and time management.
