Abstract
The ship's rudder has the role of changing and determining the direction of the ship's movement, both straight and turning. The ship's rudder is one of the ship's performance supports which has a very important role when the ship is sailing as a useful tool for moving the ship. Damage to the ship's rudder occurs due to corrosion and the rudder plays an important role in the main function of the ship because it requires regular maintenance on the ship's rudder. Damage usually occurs to the steering gear and wear on the rudder stick and so on. This study will discuss the maintenance of ship rudders from corrosion on MT ships. Success Victory XXXIV at PT. Beautiful Janata Marina. This maintenance process is used to repair damage to the steering leaf and steering leaf shaft. After the repair is carried out, the thing that must be done is the maintenance process so that the steering leaf and steering leaf shaft can work properly. Based on data collection carried out during Land Practice (Prada), the author used several methods, namely observation, interviews, and document study and literature study. The results of the discussion of this paper are that after repairs and maintenance are carried out, the performance of the ship's rudder will run well and there will be no obstacles when the ship is sailing. It is recommended that in order for the rudder blade to have a long term of service, it is regularly maintained to minimize damage to the ship's rudder leaf from corrosion. In conclusion, if the rudder leaf is regularly maintained and repaired, it will prevent damage to the ship's rudder leaf so that there will be no problems when the ship is sailing.
