Abstract
The main engine as the main driver is supported by several systems, including the fuel oil system, cooling system and lubricating oil system. The lubricating oil system has an important role, namely its function is to lubricate moving components in the main engine such as camshafts, bearings, journal bearings and exhaust valve actuators. For this reason, in the lubrication system there are several main components, including the pump and Lubrication Oil Cooler. In order to cool the temperature of the oil cooler tube lubrication machine, damage can occur due to several factors. The purpose of this writing is to find out oil cooler lubrication maintenance procedures to prevent corrosion and cooler scale. The writing method used is observation, interviews, literature, namely observing and asking directly about oil cooler lubrication maintenance procedures. The results obtained by this paper show that the factors that cause damage to the lubrication oil cooler tube are environmental factors, unstable pressure, excessive workload, inadequate maintenance, and water quality. Corrosion is damage to the structure of materials as a result of chemical or electrochemical reactions with the environment. Several factors cause corrosion in the Lubrication oil Cooler tube, such as a corrosive environment, cooling water quality, temperature and pressure. Therefore, maintenance procedures for the lubrication oil cooler and taking appropriate precautions can extend the life of the lubrication oil cooler and avoid losses caused by corrosion. Keywords: lubrication oil cooler, tube oil cooler, Corrosion
